My Poem Analysis - Term 2 2013

WALT read a poem and analyse the language features of a poem.

Tickling the swans the river rushed passed,
Eating the reeds like it's a race,
Wildly hammering against the river bed,
Spitting water droplets,
Rapids exploding in the air,
Kicking the river banks while sweeping past,
Waves sprinting,
Splash!
Crash!
Barging it's way into the locks,
Gushing, gushing, gushing!
1. Summarise the poem you have read in your own words.
  • The poem I read this week is about how a river moves along and what the water does as it moves.

2. Identify at least 2 different language features in the poem and give examples. You can identify more than 2 language features.

One of the language features in this poem is personification. Here is an example of this language feature...Waves sprinting

Another language feature in this poem is an onomatopoeia .Here is an example of this language feature...      Splash!

Crash!

My Ancestral Poem

I am full cook island I am proud to be who i am.
I am a descendant of Aitutaki. Call me a brother a son of
strong Islanders.I come from a strong line of people who
are proud and hard working and who shaped me into who i am
today.I hear the drums beating calling me to come home
I feel the strength love and freedom from god and my village.
I catch the fish with my hands  from the oceans that
have fed my family for generations.I am proud that my
ancestors give us strength and courage when natural
disasters get thrown at us with strength and
courage we can survive anything.

This is my Ancestral Poem I have created. I hope that you will be brave enough
to leave me some friendly comments. Please include FF and FB about my work!
