My Poem Analysis - Term 2 2013

WALT read a poem and analyse the language features of a poem.

Tickling the swans the river rushed passed,
Eating the reeds like it's a race,
Wildly hammering against the river bed,
Spitting water droplets,
Rapids exploding in the air,
Kicking the river banks while sweeping past,
Waves sprinting,
Splash!
Crash!
Barging it's way into the locks,
Gushing, gushing, gushing!
1. Summarise the poem you have read in your own words.
  • The poem I read this week is about how a river moves along and what the water does as it moves.

2. Identify at least 2 different language features in the poem and give examples. You can identify more than 2 language features.

One of the language features in this poem is personification. Here is an example of this language feature...Waves sprinting

Another language feature in this poem is an onomatopoeia .Here is an example of this language feature...      Splash!

Crash!

You have read a very interesting poem about a river. There are some interesting language features in this poem and its great to see that you have specially identified some of them. Why do you think the author wrote this poem?
